The Cardrona Distillery - Earnest Work's Desire Realised...

We first discovered whisky from The Cardona Distillery in 2021; set in the beautiful Southern Alps of New Zealand, surrounded by picturesque landscapes, with higher altitudes and greater temperature variances to impact on this grain to glass spirit that is produced with a focus on sustainability. We got to enjoy their whisky journey, from the coming of age with Just Hatched, through to the 7-year release Full Flight. There have been some wonderful whisky releases along this journey that use exquisite casks to optimise the flavours and we wanted to share them with you...

The Cardrona Just Hatched

“Just Hatched” relates to its coming of whisky age, marking the momentous occasion of reaching

3-years old. This special natural cask strength bottling, demonstrates the marriage of handpicked

ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which captures the underlying character of the distillery, with notes of flower honey, vanilla and spice. This is definitely one to explore... take your time!

The Cardrona Growing Wings Solera

As their malts are maturing they are guarded by the New Zealand Falcon, a symbol of their progression, and Growing Wings is a celebration of 5-years in oak. A sublime marriage of

ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry butts, with flavours of pecan pie, treacle and vanilla bean clotted cream. A drop of water really lets you in to this one...

The Cardrona Growing Wings Single Cask Release - Old Forester

This exclusive single cask release has their Growing Wings whisky matured in an Old Forester ex-bourbon cask for 5-years and bottled at cask strength. This has created a whisky filled with notes of caramalised apple, orchard fruits, honey and vanilla cream... Delicious!

The Cardrona Full Flight Single Cask Release - Sherry

An indulgent whisky experience. Bottled at 7-years and one day, this whisky was matured in a Oloroso Sherry cask, then transferred to a Pedro Ximénez cask for a decadent finish. Intense flavours of buttered hot cross buns, sun-scorched nectarine, spice and sticky raisin, with a drizzle of honey. Make sure to get your hands on this unique and delicious whisky!

The Cardrona Full Flight Single Cask Release - Bourbon

Offers an intense, full-bodied flavour profile. Aged 7-years and one day in ex-Breckenridge Bourbon casks, this whisky is layered with honeyed Central Otago apricots, seasoned with applewood and vanilla, and finished with a dollop of rich cream custard. This exquisite whisky is hand-selected for Cardrona's final progress report range, and is sure to satisfy the most discerning of whisky connoisseurs...
